PERCUTANEOUS ULTRASOUND-GUIDED ELECTROLYSIS • Tendinopathies and muscle injuries (Part 2)

20.8 ECM credits - Medical doctors

Ultrasound-guided percutaneous electrolysis is increasingly being adopted as a complementary therapy to active rehabilitation in the treatment of tendinopathies. This minimally invasive technique aims to promote remodeling of the damaged tendon through the focused and targeted delivery of a specific electrical current applied via a tiny needle. Although it may appear straightforward at first glance, effective application requires in-depth knowledge: in addition to selecting the appropriate indications, both the technique and the conditions of use significantly influence outcomes.

Tendinopathies are not, however, the only field of application. The technique can also target ligamentous or muscular injuries and their associated complications. In these cases too, knowledge of the indications and contraindications, limitations, and conditions of application is of great importance — and differs in part from that applicable to tendinopathies — and is essential for correctly informing the athlete and supporting recovery from injury.

The Course aims to describe the applications of ultrasound-guided percutaneous electrolysis in tendinopathies and muscle injuries, presenting specific protocols for some of the most frequently affected sites in athletes and offering immediate practical application through hands-on exercises. Lectures and supervision are provided by Fermín Valera Garrido (MVClinic Institute), a pioneer of the technique, and by sports physician Marco Freschi (Juventus FC), who brings extensive field experience.
