Prevention is another fundamental aspect for those who practice sports. In Italy, about 300,000 athletes every year are forced to turn to Emergency Departments due to injuries sustained during sports activity (data from the Higher Institute of Health). The most important preventive measure to avoid some of these non-traumatic injuries is having good physical preparation.

J|medical offers specific tests and programs aimed at preventing lesions, improving resistance and physical condition, favoring optimal recovery between sports performances. Doing prevention (and doing it in the best possible way) is not only a weapon of defense to protect oneself from injuries but is also a way to enjoy sports activity in maximum safety.

Cardiovascular prevention is also fundamental, for which a medical examination is requested before starting any sports activity, regardless of age or the intensity of the sport practiced. The visit is mandatory for anyone wishing to practice competitive sports and is strongly recommended also for non-competitive activities.

The visit helps identify risk conditions or pathologies that might require further investigation through diagnostic inquiries.

Cardiovascular prevention is particularly important for people over 40 who practice endurance sports, such as cycling and running.

How does the fitness visit take place? During the visit, the doctor collects information on the patient’s clinical history and habits. Instrumental exams such as ECG and, if necessary, ergometric tests and echocardiograms are performed. These are fundamental exams to identify silent heart conditions that could lead to serious consequences.

The echocardiogram is particularly recommended for people with cardiac risk factors, abnormal ECGs, for people over 40, and for those who practice high-intensity sports. The fitness visit is essential for the safety of those who practice sports activity, contributing to preventing potential heart problems.
