Prevention is another key aspect for anyone who plays sport. In Italy around 300,000 athletes every year have to turn to the emergency department because of injuries sustained while playing sport.
Prevention is another key aspect for anyone who plays sport. In Italy around 300,000 athletes every year have to turn to the emergency department because of injuries sustained while playing sport.
Just like for competitive athletes, those who want to practice non-competitive sports activity are required to undergo a specific medical examination to assess that their state of health is compatible with the sports activity they intend to perform. In this case, we speak of a non-competitive fitness examination.
How does the visit take place? The doctor performs a general examination, paying particular attention to the patient’s anamnesis. Following this, they perform cardiac and pulmonary auscultation, a physical examination, measure blood pressure, and perform an ECG (electrocardiogram).
And what happens after the visit? Once all the checks have been completed with a positive outcome, the visit concludes with the issuance of the non-competitive sports fitness certificate.
