So what is nephrology? It is a branch of medicine that deals with diagnosis and therapy of kidney and urinary tract diseases, both in case of primitive problems of such organs (such as stones, cystitis, prostatitis, or congenital pathologies), and in case of their secondary involvement, as happens in diseases such as diabetes mellitus or long-standing arterial hypertension.
