What are instrumental therapies? They are therapies that use various forms of physical energy for treatment purposes. They are a further tool made available to reach the therapeutic goal identified during the medical consultation.
Who is in charge of instrumental therapies? In our centre it is always the specialist physician who indicates their use, which is then delivered by specialized staff (medical and physiotherapy). Because of the characteristics of the prescription (dose, method, timing, duration), exactly as for therapeutic exercise and massage therapy with which they are combined, they should be regarded as a medicine in their own right, even though on their own they rarely allow a complete and lasting recovery.
